In addition to the permanent residential care we provide here at Iden Manor, we also recognise the value of day and respite care, not just for those people who come to stay with us, but for their families too.
There are many reasons why people consider these options. Some need a period of support as they recuperate from an illness or accident; some need increasingly regular help – and the company of others – whilst they still maintain their independent life. And for those who are already dependent on daily support at home, it can be to enable an existing carer, be that a life partner or other family member, to have a short break themselves.
Whatever the situation, the benefits are clear to see, and far-reaching. In fact, the opportunity to experience Iden Manor as a day visitor or for a fixed period often breaks the ice for elderly people and their families who are struggling to come to terms with a future where they are unable to look after themselves.
This facility enables you to pre-book a short-term stay of a week or more.
Before you (or the person you are caring for), checks in at Iden Manor, you'll be assessed by one of our trained nurses. This is so we can fully understand your particular needs and preferences, make you feel welcome and give you the confidence to relax and enjoy your time here.
During your stay, we will continue to support any on-going nursing or medical requirements you have… we'll even provide you with an 'MOT' of your current health status if you would like us to!
Funding for this service can either be through existing health care arrangements, through Social Services or by private means.
This is such a good way to meet people and enjoy a day out! It can be arranged very quickly at short notice and doesn’t have to be a regular arrangement – it’s up to you!
Day visitors tend to arrive around 10.00am and are with us until 4.00pm. During that time they don’t have to lift a finger if they don’t want to.
After morning coffee and biscuits, you can do as you will… a bit of pampering is very popular, whether it’s a bubble bath, a visit to our in-house hairdresser, or a manicure.
Whatever you choose to do, you can look forward to a delicious lunch followed by a range of activities to get involved in if the fancy takes you, topped off by afternoon tea and cake. There are plenty of people to talk to, the most beautiful views to enjoy through the huge windows and a cheerful fire burning in the panelled drawing room in the winter months.
Day care is paid for on a per session basis and costs £40 - £50 depending on your particular needs.
“ It is vital to understand how people want to be looked after and to deliver to their expectations ”
